PILINA COLLECTION

Pilina is a collection inspired by the people, nature and spirit from across the globe. The Hawaiian language, like many indigenous languages, is one of feeling and embodiment. Therefore, a simple translation is hardly able to capture the true essence of Pilina. However, the word Pilina in Hawaiian can simply translate to association, relationship, union, connection, meeting, joining, adhering, or fitting. The Pilina collection represents a connection between all peoples through the rhythm of nature, the beauty of creative expression and the power each person has to bring unity and build relationships from around the world.

The Pilina collection is inspired by the eight major Islands of the Hawaiian archipelago: Hawai’i, O’ahu, Kaua’i, Maui, Moloka’i, Lāna’i, Ni’ihau, and Kaho’olawe. The Hawaiian Islands are like a beautiful lei strung across the pacific ocean with each island representing its own flower; the Lehua flower for Hawai’i, Ilima flower for O’ahu, Mokihana Berry for Kaua’i, Lokelani rose for Maui, Kukui Nut flower for Moloka’i, Kaunaoa plant for Lana’i, white Pupu shell for Ni’ihau, and Hinahina flower for Kaho’olawe. The collection consists of the signature piece featuring all eight islands represented on an 18 karat single- origin eco- gold chain with hand fabricated filigree charms, accented by responsibly farmed Tahitian pearls. The collection is completed by multiple earrings, rings, pendants, charms, and necklaces. Each piece is fully hand fabricated by a small team of Afro-Colombian goldsmiths located in Tumaco, Colombia, using pearls sourced from Kamoka Pearl and 18k single origin hand- panned gold from Chocó, Colombia.
